Tech’s bright promise for a better world

“What got us here won’t get us there,” Micron President and Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Mehrotra said in his opening speech for Micron Insight 2019. The quote, paraphrasing executive coach Marshall Goldsmith (whose actual words were “What got you here won’t get you there”), illustrates Micron’s devotion to creating memory and storage solutions that get us “there.”

“The compute architectures of yesterday are not suitable for the AI workloads of tomorrow,” the CEO said, adding that Micron has its sights — and insights — fixed firmly on the future.

Technology is changing every day. From fully immersive video games to smart factories, technology is at the center of nearly everything we do, Mehrotra pointed out, and memory is at the heart of technology.

“Memory matters today more than ever before,” he said.
